CBS has announced a few shows they have picked up for the 2013-2014 season, including The Crazy Ones starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams. The series will see them playing a daughter and father in the world of advertising.

Other projects they have picked up: Intelligence with Josh Holloway, Marg Helgenberger, and Meghan Ory, which sounds almost like a more serious take on Chuck or Jake 2.0; Hostages with Toni Collette and Dylan McDermott, which involves a hostage situation after someone is chosen to operate as the new President of the United States; the Anna Faris-starring comedy Mom from Chuck Lorre; comedy We Are Men starring Jerry O’Connell; and The Millers, a show about a divorced man who moves in with his parents.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is coming back to the small screen — in a comedy. The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star will co-headline CBS’ workplace comedy Crazy Ones, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The single-camera entry revolves around the dynamics between a father named Simon Roberts (Good Will Hunting Oscar winner Robin Williams) and his daughter and is set in the world of advertising.

Gellar will play Sydney Roberts, Simon’s daughter. She’s described as pretty, intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical. Sydney is the creative director and life and soul of the Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency at the center of the comedy. She wants to be her father but is too busy having to parent him. Boston Legal’s David E. Kelley will pen the 20th Television single-camera pilot and executive produce alongside Dean Lorey, Bill D’Elia, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum. Jason Winer (Modern Family, 1600 Penn) will direct the pilot. Political Animals alum James Wolk also co-stars as Zach Cropper, a copywriter at the agency.

For Gellar, the role marks her second potential series-regular role in a half-hour comedy and comes a year after the CW axed her twin drama thriller Ringer. The actress previously shot an ill-fated comedy pilot for HBO in 2009 that failed to go to series. In addition to her title role in Buffy, the actress has voiced multiple characters in American Dad, Robot Chicken and The Simpsons. On the feature side, her credits include The Grudge and the Scooby-Doo series. She’s repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment and Morris Yorn. The casting comes a month after the actress was developing a family comedy written by Men at Work’s Shepard Boucher and exec produced by Apartment 23′s David Hemingson and Margaret Riley. The project failed to move forward.

Sarah Michelle Gellar may be back on the small screen next fall as the star of a new half-hour comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively.

The potential (and currently untitled) series, which is being developed at 20th Century Fox TV (home of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), chronicles the hijinks parents get into while their kids are not at home.

Gellar would play the wife/mother. The actress — who attempted a TV comeback last year with The CW’s now-cancelled Ringer — became interested in the project after reading the Shepard Boucher-penned spec script. (Boucher’s credits include serving as a staff writer on the TBS comedy Men at Work.)

The project will be shopped to the major networks in the coming weeks.

After giving welcoming a son in September, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. decided to keep his name a secret. But now, the couple have decided it is time to share their baby boys name to the world.

The Buffy The Vampire Slayers rep announced on Saturday (Nov. 17) that the baby’s name is Rocky James. The couple who have been married for 10 years also have three-year-old daughter, Charlotte.
