CBS has announced a few shows they have picked up for the 2013-2014 season, including The Crazy Ones starring Sarah Michelle Gellar and Robin Williams. The series will see them playing a daughter and father in the world of advertising.
Other projects they have picked up: Intelligence with Josh Holloway, Marg Helgenberger, and Meghan Ory, which sounds almost like a more serious take on Chuck or Jake 2.0; Hostages with Toni Collette and Dylan McDermott, which involves a hostage situation after someone is chosen to operate as the new President of the United States; the Anna Faris-starring comedy Mom from Chuck Lorre; comedy We Are Men starring Jerry O’Connell; and The Millers, a show about a divorced man who moves in with his parents.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is coming back to the small screen — in a comedy. The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star will co-headline CBS’ workplace comedy Crazy Ones, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The single-camera entry revolves around the dynamics between a father named Simon Roberts (Good Will Hunting Oscar winner Robin Williams) and his daughter and is set in the world of advertising.
Gellar will play Sydney Roberts, Simon’s daughter. She’s described as pretty, intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical. Sydney is the creative director and life and soul of the Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency at the center of the comedy. She wants to be her father but is too busy having to parent him. Boston Legal’s David E. Kelley will pen the 20th Television single-camera pilot and executive produce alongside Dean Lorey, Bill D’Elia, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum. Jason Winer (Modern Family, 1600 Penn) will direct the pilot. Political Animals alum James Wolk also co-stars as Zach Cropper, a copywriter at the agency.
For Gellar, the role marks her second potential series-regular role in a half-hour comedy and comes a year after the CW axed her twin drama thriller Ringer. The actress previously shot an ill-fated comedy pilot for HBO in 2009 that failed to go to series. In addition to her title role in Buffy, the actress has voiced multiple characters in American Dad, Robot Chicken and The Simpsons. On the feature side, her credits include The Grudge and the Scooby-Doo series. She’s repped by ICM Partners, Brillstein Entertainment and Morris Yorn. The casting comes a month after the actress was developing a family comedy written by Men at Work’s Shepard Boucher and exec produced by Apartment 23′s David Hemingson and Margaret Riley. The project failed to move forward.
Sarah Michelle Gellar may be back on the small screen next fall as the star of a new half-hour comedy, TVLine has learned exclusively.
The potential (and currently untitled) series, which is being developed at 20th Century Fox TV (home of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), chronicles the hijinks parents get into while their kids are not at home.
Gellar would play the wife/mother. The actress — who attempted a TV comeback last year with The CW’s now-cancelled Ringer — became interested in the project after reading the Shepard Boucher-penned spec script. (Boucher’s credits include serving as a staff writer on the TBS comedy Men at Work.)
The project will be shopped to the major networks in the coming weeks.

Ringer cancellation explained by CW boss: “It was complicated, serialised show”,
Mark Pedowitz has insisted that he is proud of Ringer’s performance on The CW. The network president was asked about the show’s recent cancellation after just one season during The CW’s Upfronts. “I don’t think anything went wrong with Ringer. I was happy it’s there,” TV Line quotes Pedowitz as saying. “The show was well-crafted, well-produced, well-written, but it was a complicated, serialised show.” He went on to reveal what he believes contributed to the Sarah Michelle Gellar drama’s decline in ratings following its hiatus in late 2011, adding: “After it finished a run in the fall and came back in January, the audience went somewhere else. And it just could not find the 18-34 demo that we hoped.”
Ringer’s executive producer Pam Veasey confessed that the inaccessibility and complexity of the show may have been behind the decrease in viewership…
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr. are expanding their family! The Ringer actress is pregnant with her second child, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm. “She and Freddie are thrilled,” a friend of the pair says. “They’re amazing parents.”
The couple met while filming the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer and began dating three years later. They tied the knot in Mexico on September 1, 2002, and welcomed daughter Charlotte Grace in September 2009.
Gellar, 35, recently told Us that Prinze, 36, had been enjoying his one-on-one time with Charlotte as she filmed the first season of The CW’s Ringer. “He loves it. We fight over who gets to stay home,” Gellar said of her stay-at-home husband. “You’d think it would be the opposite, that the parents would be like, ‘No, I’ll go to work!’ but he’s like, ‘You stayed home for two years! It’s my turn!’”
“He and Charlotte have too much fun,” Gellar added. “I’m jealous!”
Family comes first for the couple, who both grew up in the spotlight. “They still have date nights all the time and have a normal life,” an insider tells Us. “They both came of age in Hollywood and love working, but their home life is more important to them.”
Public Appearances > 2012 > Operation Military Shower (February 15)
Sarah Michelle Gellar was on hand at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA, this morning for Operation Shower. The actress played host at the event, which honored military moms whose husbands are currently deployed, and capped things off by giving each woman in attendance a new crib. The free furniture came from Pottery Barn Kids, the organization SMG was representing in her role today.
We had a chance to chat with the Ringer star and mom during the festivities. Sarah Michelle told us it was the second baby shower she’s thrown this week, having also hosted a soiree for her best friend, who joined her for today’s celebration.

The show’s creators and cast members reveal several things to look for as the series shifts its attention to Bridget’s vengeful twin sister.
Siobhan (Sarah Michelle Gellar) has returned to New York City. Because if she wants things done right, she has to enact her plan herself when The CW’s Ringer returns on Tuesday. “I think the focus largely in the first part of the season was what we call the Gemma chapter, as well as Bridget taking on her sister’s identity,” series co-creator Nicole Snyder says. “I think the focus shifts on Siobhan and her revenge plot heavily in the second half of the season.”
Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will serve as special guest host.
Emmy Award-winning actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will help 40 military moms-to-be experience what many expectant women may take for granted – a baby shower. The moms, whose spouses are deployed members of Naval Base Ventura County, will be honored during an Operation Shower group baby shower hosted by Gellar on Wednesday, Feb. 15, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Birdies for the Brave® Patriots’ Outpost presented by the Annenberg Foundation located on the 10th green at Riviera Country Club during the Northern Trust Open.
Sarah Michelle Gellar needs to add little Charlotte to her payroll!
The actress’ 2-year-old daughter with Freddie Prinze, Jr. served as her stylist for the 69th Annual Golden Globes, Gellar told E! News co-host Giuliana Rancic. The Ringer star turned heads in a Monique Lhuillier gown, Jimmy Choo heels and Bulgari jewelry. “It’s funny — I didn’t try on that many dresses. They had them all lined up and I was working all week and my 2-year-old walked in, walked up this dress and said, ‘Mama, wear this!’” Gellar, 34, recalled. “So I put it on and said, ‘OK!”
“She really went for it,” Gellar added. “She chose the bag and shoes. I let her pick all of it.” Gellar flew solo on the red carpet, as Prinze, her love of nearly 12 years, decided to stay home and “watch football.”
The latest Sarah Michelle Gellar television series Ringer is well into its debut season now and Sarah Michelle Gellar has revealed, which of the two characters that she plays, is her favourite. In the end, it appears that the deciding factor came down to the fashion sense, for Sarah. She explained, “I look a lot like both of them, so that’s handy. What I love about the show is the duality of all of the characters and the idea that we all have a good side and a bad side. I’m not necessarily more like either one of the characters because, in their motivations, they both feel incredibly justified, but Siobhan has the better wardrobe.”
Sarah Michelle Gellar starred in the Ringer premiere, which aired on The CW on September 13. Ringer was then signed up for a full, 22 episode first season on October 12. You can see Sarah Michelle Gellar in Ringer every Tuesday evening on The CW.
SMG is going the distance! The CW just gave Ringer a full-season order, sources say. The move comes on the heels of Ringer moving up a tick in the ratings Tuesday night for the first time, delivering 1.7 million viewers and a 0.8 in the adult demo. We’re also hearing the Ringer season finale will reveal Gellar’s character is a triplet. Ringer is the first new fall drama to score its “back nine” episodes.
Has Sarah Michelle Gellar gone Method? The already murky plot of Ringer has kicked it up a notch, with one of the identical twins played by Gellar pretending to be pregnant, while the other one actually is pregnant. (You follow so far?)
And now there’s a report out there that Gellar herself is pregnant with her and Freddie Prinze Jr.’s second child together! Wow, that’s a lot of real and pretend babies on the way. But is it true?!
